Scholarship Opportunities

When we first launched Empowerment in Heels in 2017, our primary aim was to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone could come together to enjoy and celebrate the art of burlesque. While we invite individuals from all backgrounds, levels, genders, orientations, and ethnicities to participate, we have observed that our community predominantly consists of white cis-women. To help diversify our space and make our offerings more accessible, we are proud to provide two scholarship opportunities that both grant recipients 5 FREE Empowerment in Heels BURLESQUE CLASSES.

Black Burlesque Scholarship

We're aware that our classes may not be easily accessible to BIPOC individuals who are seeking to connect with their bodies in a meaningful way. Inspired by an insightful panel discussion on anti-racism in burlesque, which took place during the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival in 2020, we are now taking proactive steps to enhance accessibility and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Trans, Nonbinary, Gender Nonconforming, and Gender-Expansive (TGI) Burlesque Scholarship

Our NEW TGI scholarship aims to support and uplift individuals who identify outside the traditional gender binary and are curious about the art of burlesque. This scholarship stands as a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment within Empowerment in Heels, celebrating the unique voices and talents of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals. We look forward to seeing your creativity and expression shine through our classes.
