The current political climate has undeniably created significant stress for the Trans, Nonbinary, Gender Nonconforming, and Gender-Expansive community. Policies and rhetoric that challenge the communities rights and visibility can of course generate feelings of uncertainty and fear.

At Empowerment in Heels, we recognize the profound connection between movement and emotional well-being. Burlesque serves as a powerful form of expression, allowing individuals to celebrate their bodies and unleash their creativity. The art of burlesque isn't just about performance; it's a journey of self-discovery that fosters confidence and empowerment.

Our NEW TGI Burlesque Scholarship is our effort to actively demonstrate the importance of solidarity and empathy in fostering a more inclusive society for all. Everyone deserves the opportunity to live authentically and without fear.

Empowerment in Heels:
TGI Burlesque Scholarship

We’re proud to offer a TGI Burlesque Scholarship, specifically created to support TGI folks in exploring the art of burlesque as a powerful act of embodiment, resistance, and celebration. This scholarship grants five free burlesque classes to individuals who identify anywhere along the trans and gender-diverse spectrum, with the intention of fostering healing, connection, and self-love.

Dance, movement, and performance are not just artistic practices—they’re therapeutic tools that help us reclaim agency, reconnect with our bodies, and tell our stories on our own terms.

Whether you are brand new to burlesque or returning to the stage, this program is designed to meet you where you are—offering affirming instruction in an environment that centers safety, consent, expression, and freedom.

Community and Acceptance

Building a strong sense of community is essential for fostering empowerment and resilience among its members. At Empowerment in Heels we understand this involves creating safe spaces where individuals can share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs without fear of judgment.

Empowerment in Heels allows members to express themselves freely and seek advice from those who understand their journey. In addition to classes we provide opportunities for networking, mentorship, and solidarity, reinforcing the idea that no one has to navigate their path alone.

By equipping community members with the necessary tools to advocate for themselves, we can cultivate an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

This scholarship is for anyone who self-identifies as:

• Transgender

• Nonbinary

• Genderqueer

• Gender nonconforming

• Two-Spirit

• Agender

• Intersex

• Or otherwise existing outside the cisgender binary
